Congratulations on saying YES to your prom dress!

Now that you’ve found the one, here’s exactly what happens next so you can feel confident and prepared leading up to grad.

 

If You Bought Off the Rack

If you purchased your gown off the rack during a sample sale or in-store event, you get to take your dress home the very same day. No waiting, no shipping, it’s officially yours!

We recommend hanging it safely in a cool, dry place and keeping it in the garment bag until alterations begin.

 

If You Special-Ordered Your Dress

If your gown was specially ordered, production time typically ranges from 2–6 months, depending on the designer and season.

As soon as your dress arrives in-store, we will personally call you to let you know it’s here! From there, you’ll book your Prom Dress-In Appointment, where you’ll come in to try on your gown and see how it fits.

This is such an exciting moment! It’s the first time you’ve seen your actual dress!

 

Alterations: Creating the Perfect Fit

If adjustments are needed, you can book a consultation with our seamstress. During this appointment:

• • She will assess the fit

• • Go over any alterations you’d like done (hemming, straps, taking in, etc.)

• • Provide an exact cost breakdown before any work begins

For alterations appointments, you will need to bring:

• • Your prom shoes

• • Any shapewear or undergarments you plan to wear

These items are essential to ensure your hem and fit are perfect for the big night.

 

When Should You Start Alterations?

We recommend beginning alterations 6–8 weeks before prom to allow enough time for fittings and adjustments.

However, if:

• • Your body size is stable

• • You only need minor changes (like a hem or strap adjustment)

• • You already have your prom shoes

We can often begin alterations sooner.

 

Final Touches Before Prom

Once your alterations are complete or if you didn’t require alterations, we provide a complimentary professional steam to ensure your gown looks flawless.

You’ll schedule a pick-up date 1–3 days before prom, so your dress is fresh, wrinkle-free, and ready for photos.

 

A Few Extra Tips

– Keep your dress stored safely in its garment bag
– Avoid self-tanning or heavy sprays near the dress
– Bring your shoes to every fitting
– Don’t leave alterations until the last minute
