Lynne Lucille Sinclair was born July 2, 1943 in Vancouver B.C to Agnes and Gordon Sinclair. She was the youngest of 3 siblings. Lynne grew up in Kitsilano and enjoyed roller skating through the streets of her neighbourhood and spending her summers at Kits pool. She graduated from Kitsilano High School and went on to work as a girl Friday in an office as well as at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, in the evenings, while she saved for a trip to travel through Europe. Lynne and her friend Marge managed to save enough to embark on a year long adventure throughout Europe, even stopping and working in London for a time and visiting family in Scotland. This trip sparked a life long love of travel and Lynne enjoyed many more trips throughout her life. Upon her return to Vancouver, Lynne went to work in an office for a machine shop in Vancouver where she met Arnold Tobler who was originally from Switzerland and was on a trip of his own to see Canada with his friend. Arnold spoke very little English and Lynne invited him over to play cards at her brother’s house as her brother’s wife was from Germany and she figured he would have someone to talk to and to translate. Well, the rest as they say, is history! Arnold and Lynne married on August 2, 1969, she wore the beautiful dress that you see in the frame. They ended up settling in the Willoughby area of Langley and had 3 children of their own, Heidi (our owner), Arnold Jr, and Christophe. They were married for 50 years and had many trips throughout the world, as well as back to Switzerland to visit Arnold’s family, these were always a highlight. Lynne was diagnosed with cancer in July of 2017. She fought a brave battle but succumbed to the disease on October 1, 2019. She spent her last days at the Langley Hospice, where the staff took exceptional care of her. As a tribute to Lynne, her daughter Heidi, the owner of Everything But The Groom has named a special collection of dresses after her. This is our specially curated “Lynne Lucille” collection. In honour of her mom’s memory $50 from every “Lynne Lucille” dress purchased, will be donated to the Langley Hospice. Lynne was a people person and she loved to help where ever she could. We like to think she would be thrilled that she is still able to help people and we are happy to share her memory with you.
