Hello ladies!
It’s time to get to know the woman behind Everything But The Groom, Heidi.
How did you decide to open up a bridal store?
I had always wanted to own my own business from a young age but never knew what that business would be. When I went out to look for my own wedding gown I realized there were no bridal stores in Langley and I wondered why? Having lived in Langley my whole life I could see that the area was growing and there would be lots of young people moving out this way and I started to do research to see if a bridal store would be a viable option for Langley. On Oct 29, 2005 Everything But The Groom Bridal Boutique opened it’s doors!
What do you love most about your job?
I love the people that I get to meet! Myself and my staff love meeting all the wonderful customers that walk through our doors. We truly enjoy helping choose one of the most important dresses that you will wear in your life, whether that be for prom, wedding, or other special moments in life. We love the relationships that we are able to develop and we especially love the moment of saying yes to the dress!
Tell us 3 interesting facts about yourself.
Well, first and foremost I’m a mom and wife. My beautiful daughter Ava is now 5 and just started kindergarten this year. You may catch her in the store from time to time as she loves to pop by and visit the pretty dresses.
Before I opened Everything But The Groom, I was an elementary school teacher and I taught for the Langley School District for 15 years, most recently grade 7 at Alice Brown Elementary. I left teaching when I had my daughter and decided to make Everything But The Groom my one and only job.
I love music! One of the things my husband and I enjoy most is going out to a concert together. I have a bit of a Bon Jovi obsession and I have seen them over 20 times in concert. Five years ago I actually got to meet Jon Bon Jovi and get a photo with him which was definitely one of the highlights of my life!
What makes your store different from any other?
Our customer service is second to none! We pride ourselves on making the bridal gown shopping experience fun. My staff are very honest, knowledgeable and relatable. They are here to make you feel special and to take the stress out of shopping for a bridal, bridesmaids or prom dress. We have dresses to accommodate all budgets and all shapes and sizes.
What advice would you give to all of the lovely brides that have not started shopping yet?
I would tell them to make sure that they are true to themselves and to make sure that they get the wedding dress of their dreams. Sometimes a bride’s voice can get lost if too many people are involved in the shopping process. I would also tell them to keep an open mind. Many times what you think you might like, is not actually what ends up looking best on you. Let your bridal consultant guide you and ask them if they have any suggestions, since they know the stock in the store. You never know, they just might find a hidden gem!
We hope that this has given you a little more insight about Everything But The Groom and our mission to uphold the highest customer service in the bridal industry. Come visit us at the store anytime, we can’t wait to meet you!
Love,
EBTG xo
